Abstract

A brief overview of the current Westinghouse Electric Company, including the status of new builds in the US and globally, and the Nuclear Fuel Division’s product lines and manufacturing facilities will be provided. The key focus of presentation is on Westinghouse’s continued drive to achieve flawless fuel performance and improved fuel economics through for its customer base through innovation. Westinghouse is leading the effort to develop accident tolerant fuels and implement advanced capabilities that will help support customer needs through the remainder of the 21st century. The status of this effort will be covered.

 

Biography

Mr. Jeffrey L. Bradfute currently works for Westinghouse Electric Company where he has the position of Senior Vice President, Americas PWR Fuel in the Nuclear Fuel Business. He has over 30 years of industry experience working for Westinghouse and the nuclear utility South Carolina Electric & Gas. He has responsibility for Americas PWR Fuel business that provides nuclear fuel, components and fuel related engineering services and technology. He is also responsible for outside zirconium/hafnium sales and components/services for production of radioisotopes in the Americas region. Mr. Bradfute received his BSNE (Suma cum Laude) from the University of Cincinnati, MSE degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Michigan, MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a licensed professional engineer. He serves on several university advisory boards including the NCSU Nuclear Engineering Department Advisory Council, the University of Michigan Nuclear Engineering & Radiological Sciences Advisory Board, and the TAMU Nuclear Engineering Advisory Council. Mr. Bradfute is an active member of the American Nuclear Society and helped organize numerous conferences and has chaired RPD and two local sections.
