A Global Look at Commercial Nuclear Power

 

Abstract

Existing nuclear is increasingly valuable.  New nuclear has interest and support globally – sometimes from surprising allies.  Will provide insights from OEMs, customers, and governments on what it will take for nuclear energy to flourish.

Biography

Nicole Holmes leads the global sales, marketing, and contracts team for GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy. In this role, she heads the team responsible for customer relationships, deal creation, and customer focused processes, including developing and implementing the business’ commercial strategy. Nicole is committed to GEH’s mission to provide carbon-free power to the world by innovating and advancing new nuclear while keeping the existing fleet safe and competitive.

Prior to taking her current role in summer 2020, she led strategic accounts for GE Power for large investor-owned utilities in the southeastern United States. Holmes was responsible for building executive relationships and creating new opportunities for key accounts. Through close customer partnerships, she drove growth and innovation across energy technologies including gas, steam, nuclear, and renewables.

Nicole’s GE career began in the nuclear business, where she held multiple leadership roles at GE Hitachi, including Chief Operating Officer of Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF), SVP of Supply Chain, and Quality Leader. Her more than 25-year energy industry career began in reactor engineering at Duke Energy. She held positions in power plant engineering and business operations with Duke Energy before joining GE.

Nicole earned a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering with highest honors from North Carolina State University and an M.B.A from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a graduate of GE’s Lean Six Sigma Program and GE’s Management Course. She chairs the board for the Strategic Energy Institute at Georgia Tech University and serves on the board of the Cape Fear Salvation Army.
