NC State Nuclear Engineering hosting an International Atomic Energy Agency GOTHIC-Based Modelling Workshop

Five fellows of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) are participating in a two week-long workshop at NC State. John Link and George Leigh, from Zachry Nuclear Engineering, are leading this workshop on GOTHIC-based modelling of hydrogen behavior during severe accidents in water cooled reactors.

NC State’s Nuclear Engineering Consortium for Nuclear Power (CNP) is hosting these activities. CNP’s mission is to promote research and development, innovation, education, and training as well as the provision of technical support/expert advice/consultancy services that benefit the nuclear industry and its regulation. Dr. Maria Avramova is its executive director and an associate professor in the department.

The IAEA fellows are members of the State Power Investment Corporation Research Institute (SPICRI) in Beijing China. SPICRI conducts research on nuclear energy, thermal power, solar energy and new energy, cross cutting edge technology, common key technology as well as strategic and technical economic research.

The IAEA supports member states by fostering information exchange and collaborative research and development, aimed at improving member states’ capabilities in reactor design, assessment and analysis.
