Research Description
My research goal is to develop an open-source, web-based, parallel, and distributed probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) software package. To reach my goal:
- I create synthetic PRA models.
- Use generic PRA models for different types of nuclear power plants.
- Benchmark and profile current PRA tools.
- Discover and update pre-quantifying, quantifying, and post-quantifying algorithms implemented in PRA model quantifiers.
- Develop parallel computation capability to PRA model quantifiers.
Background
I received my bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Hacettepe University in 2012. I spent seven years in the industry, which allowed me to gain experience in project management, system, and equipment qualification, licensing a radioactive drug production facility, radiation protection training course, and radiation management consulting before going back to academia. Then, I completed my M.S. in Nuclear Engineering at NC State Nuclear Engineering Department in 2021, focusing on detecting illicit nuclear activities in nuclear facilities.
