Marshall wins the American Nuclear Society Young Members Advancement Award

Congratulations to Lisa Marshall, recipient of the 2020 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Young Members Advancement Award.

This award recognizes an individual or group that has made a significant contribution towards integrating young members into ANS as a whole. It is given to an individual or group that has increased membership or participation of young members, created leadership or experience opportunities for young members, trained or mentored young members, raised funding for young members, publicly supported the cause of young members, or taken other actions to get young members involved with ANS on a national level. Special consideration is given to those whose actions have far-reaching effect, such as impacting large numbers of young members or setting a public example for young member outreach.

Lisa is the Director of Outreach, Retention & Engagement, Lecturer & Adviser. Her relationships in the department, across colleges and universities – internationally and nationally – have benefited prospective, undergraduate & graduate students, educators, the discipline and the public at large as they think about the application of nuclear science and engineering across various industries. Lisa Marshall is a former ANS board member, current vice-chair of the ANS External Affairs Committee, co-vice chair for the ANS Diversity & Inclusion Committee, and current chair of NC State’s Association of Women Faculty.
