ANS Student Sections Committee recognizes NC State Nuclear Engineering students

Congratulations to Ishita Trivedi, S. Joseph Cope and Cameron Maras. They were 3 of 18 national nuclear engineering program nominees for the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Student Service and Leadership commendation.

Commendation Recipient in the Graduate Student Category

Ms. Ishita Trivedi is a PhD candidate and the Organizing Committee Chair for the ANS Student Conference to be hosted at NC State University on April 8-10, 2021. Her adviser is Dr. Jason Hou and Ishita is working on “Uncertainty Quantification and Propagation Methodology for Safety Analysis of Lead-cooled Fast Reactors”.

Nominees in the Graduate Student Category

Dr. S. Joseph Cope served as the ANS Organizing Committee Technical Chair prior to his graduation in December 2019. His adviser was Dr. Robert Hayes and Joseph worked on “Graded Approach Methodology for Rapid Transuranic Activity Estimation in Radiological Emergency Response Air Sampling”.

Mr. Cameron Maras is a Master in Nuclear Engineering (MNE) candidate and serves as the ANS Organizing Committee Finance Chair. His adviser is Dr. Jason Hou and Cameron is working on “Novel Framework for Applying Reinforcement Learning for Core Loading Optimization”.

Each year the American Nuclear Society (ANS) Student Sections Committee recognizes students whose demonstration of leadership and commitment to outreach and service has resulted in significant achievements and the advancement of the nuclear community.
