It’s Nuclear Science Week at NC State

For 2018, NC State’s Department of Nuclear Engineering has scheduled tours, seminars, a fun night and a ‘graduate studies in nuclear engineering’ information session welcoming all to participate; see below for the schedule.

Nuclear Science Week (NSW) is an international celebration that focuses on contributions of nuclear science and technology. Conceived in 2009, the Smithsonian-affiliated National Museum of Nuclear Science & History consulted with its nuclear industry partners, discussing the need for generating communication and public awareness centered on the achievements of nuclear science. Through these discussions, the idea of hosting a week that celebrated the field of nuclear science materialized. NSW held its first event in 2010 and is spearheaded by a number of organizations across the nation. The 2018 NSW is back in Albuquerque, New Mexico and represents the 9th celebration.

NC State’s Department of Nuclear Engineering has held its own NSW celebrations over the years as well as teamed with the American Nuclear Society – Wilmington Chapter in 2017 and the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History in 2011.
