Abstract

This seminar will focus on innovation in the field of nuclear engineering. Rather than providing a technical take on past, present and future innovations in our field, the focus will be on providing insights on what innovation means for our field, its present relevance and how to foster innovation across our community. We will go over some though-provoking examples and discussions. Please come prepared to discuss and engage!

Biography

Dr. Florent Heidet is the Director of Innovation for Nuclear Systems at USNC. He is an expert of advanced nuclear reactor technologies and core design. Previously, he was working at Argonne National Laboratory where he led the design of the Versatile Test Reactor, and other high-profile projects related to space nuclear, molten salt reactors and advanced manufacturing. Florent has been actively engaged in the American Nuclear Society, serving in various leadership roles. Florent graduated from UC Berkeley in 2010.
