Dr. Florent Heidet
Group Manager, Advanced Nuclear Energy Systems
Argonne National Laboratory

Abstract

In the recent years there has been a major resurgence of exciting projects in the field of advanced reactors. Two of the most promising ones are the Versatile Test Reactor (VTR) project and the Transformational Challenge Reactor (TCR) projects. While these projects have widely different objectives, they will both impact very beneficially the nuclear energy community and will provide much needed forward momentum to move advanced reactor technologies into the commercial world. This presentation will provide a high level overview of both projects and will discuss their expected impacts.
