Welcome Science Teachers!

Each June North Carolina State's Department of Nuclear Engineering, in association with the Progress Energy's Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, host a high school science teachers workshop over two days.

It is a combination of lectures, labs and demonstrtaions/tours that count towards 1.0 CEUs. The cost of this workshop is $25. Day one is held at NC State University in Burlington Engineering Labs; and, day two is at the Vistors' Center at Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant. Transportation between the two locations is provided; indidivuals have the option of meeting us at the day two's location as well.

Written material along with a Geiger counter and a safe everyday sources are resources provided to workshop participants.

For 2008 the workshop dates are June 17 and 18. We have also attained additional resources this year to provide reimbursement for Tuesday night double occupany accommodation and mileage. This offer is made to individuals outside Research Triangle Park (RTP) and surrounding area. Pre-approval is required for this reimbursement so please contact Ms. Marshall at lisa.marshall@ncsu.edu.
