Directions

The Department of Nuclear Engineering is located on north campus of NC State University. What follows are

• directions to the campus parking kiosk. They will then direct you to the visitors' parking location. Parking on campus costs $2 a day, if brought at the parking booth.
• walking directions from vistors' parking lot to Burlington Engineering Labs (location of Nuclear Engineering Department)
• hotel accommodations and walking directions to Burlington.

At the very end of this page are directions to Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant Visitors' Center (for day 2).

Directions to NC State's Campus Parking Kiosk
From Rocky Mount via US 64 (I-95 from New York)
Take US 64 West to Raleigh. (US 64 West turns into New Bern Avenue). Follow New Bern Avenue to downtown Raleigh. New Bern Avenue bears off into Edenton. Edenton turns into Hillsborough Street that runs past campus. Turn left onto campus at Pullen Road. At the round-about, turn right onto Stinson Drive, kiosk a few yards in.

From Durham via US 70
Take US 70 to downtown Raleigh. (US 70 turns into Glenwood Avenue). Follow Glenwood Avenue to Oberlin Road. Turn right onto Oberlin Road (approximately 3 miles). Turn right onto Hillsborough Street. Take an immediate left at Pullen Road to enter the campus. At the round-about, turn right onto Stinson Drive, kiosk a few yards in.

From Chapel Hill and Durham via I-40
Take I-40 East approximately 25 miles to Raleigh. At the I-40/Wade Avenue split, stay on I-40 to the Gorman Street exit. Turn left onto Gorman Street and follow it to the second traffic light. Turn right onto Avent Ferry Road. Stay on Avent Ferry Road as it turns into Morrill Drive as you enter campus. Turn right onto Cates Avenue. Turn left onto Pullen Road. At the round-about, turn left onto Stinson Drive. Visitors' parking kiosk a few yards in.

From Fayetteville via US 401
Take US 401 to Raleigh. Then take I-40 West to Gorman Street. Turn right onto Gorman Street and then right again onto Avent Ferry Road. Stay on Avent Ferry Road as it turns into Morrill Drive as you enter campus. Turn right onto Cates Avenue. Turn left onto Pullen Road. At the round-about, turn left onto Stinson Drive. Visitors' parking kiosk a few yards in.

From Henderson via US 1
Take US 1 (which turns into Capital Boulevard) to downtown Raleigh. Turn right onto Edenton Street. Edenton Street merges with Hillsborough Street Follow Hillsborough Street and then turn left into campus at Pullen Road. At the round-about, turn left onto Stinson Drive. Visitors' parking kiosk a few yards in.

From Florida via I-95
Take I-95 to I-40 West. Proceed on I-40 West into Raleigh to the Gorman Street exit. Turn right onto Gorman Street and then right again onto Avent Ferry Road. Avent Ferry Road. Stay on Avent Ferry Road as it turns into Morrill Drive as you enter campus. Turn right onto Cates Avenue. Turn left onto Pullen Road. At the round-about, turn left onto Stinson Drive. Visitors' parking kiosk a few yards in.

Walking Directions from Colliseum Parking Deck to Burlington Engineering Labs
Walk in the direction of Jeter Drive (the side with an uncover parking lot).
Cross the street in front of Reynolds Colliseum Building, which will be on your left hand side.
Take the stairs down through a short tunnel to pass under the railroad tracks.
Go up the stairs, cross the road and go up another set of stairs between 2 buildings (Mann & Riddick Halls).
The road in front of you will be Stinson Drive and Lampe Street.
The main entrance to our building is on the arboretum side. So, walk along Lampe Street, turn left and enter Burlington Engineering Labs. The main office is through the door on your right, room 1110.

Directions from hotel to our department
by foot … turn left after exiting hotel onto Hillsborough Street, walk approximately 3-4 blocks (you’ll pass Pullen Road and Watauga Road) to corner of Hillsborough and Lampe Streets. Turn left on Lampe Street. The second building on your right hand side is our Burlington Engineering Labs. The entrance on the arboretum side will get you to our main office, room 1110.

by car … turn left after exiting hotel onto Hillsborough Street, turn left onto Pullen Road (3rd light). At the roundabout, turn right onto Stinson Drive. Follow directions above for parking.

Area Restaurants
Please ask at the front desk of hotel. Cameron Village Shopping Mall is within walking distance along Oberlin or Woodburn Avenues off Hillsborough St. Heading towards campus, Hillsborough Street has a number of restaurants as well.

Directions to Shearon Harris Visitors' Center
1. Take US 1 South
2. Take EXIT 89 toward NEW HILL / JORDAN LAKE
3. Turn LEFT onto NEW HILL HOLLEMAN RD.
4. Pass SHEARON HARRIS RD., turn RIGHT into parking lot of Visitors' Center.
