Research
My research focuses on the development of advanced multi-scale/multi-physics modeling and simulation tools and validation and qualification methods for next generation nuclear reactors calculations. One of key focus areas has been on the development of subspace methods to enable the execution of many engineering and research oriented applications, e.g. sensitivity analysis, uncertainty analysis, and inverse analysis, that were previously considered intractable due to complexity of nuclear calculations and the computational limitations. These applications are recognized by the nuclear community as essential to enable the simulation-assisted design strategy to meet the functional requirement of next generation reactors technology. My research has received two best paper awards from the American Nuclear Society and become the basis for several Department of Energy and industrial research grants. I am an active member of North Carolina State University’s Academic Center of Excellence, sponsored by Idaho National Laboratory, which focuses on the development of advanced modeling and simulation algorithms for nuclear calculations.
